HW Announcements were a bit confusing this week, so here's what you gotta do.
Time to knock out some values for this assignment!
- Pick 4 CHARACTERS out of the 20 you've done for each class. 4 that you're most happy with and clean them but a bit and line them up. So since you were all required to do 4 classes each, that makes around 16 drawings. They don't have to be incredibly clean and they don't have to be in color, flat grey is fine. We'd prefer nice, readable line quality.
- HOWEVER, after you dwindle it down to 4, PICK ONE OUT OF THE FOUR you find to be the best in your opinion in terms of communication. With that one chosen character from each class, please do 10 value color ins like the examples Hong showed you guys in class. Remember the VALUE boxes Hong showed you in class? Please do that and present it under each character color in.
- Out of all the value boxes you do, pick one you like the best as well and make it the biggest like the examples done here. DO YOU REMEMBER THE VALUE BOX LESSON HONG TAUGHT YOU ALL IN CLASS? Remember that there are THREE LAYERS. This helps determine that you want to stand out in your character most, what is the most balanced in terms of values, or which ones contrast to help convey your characters. The outer box is the most common, flat color that should encompass most of your character. The middle box is maybe something that isn't that important on your character, but balances the tone. The most inner box are the accents, and should POP out the most on your characters. Ask yourself what you want the inner box's colors to be. Why do you want certain parts of your character to pop out? Are those certain areas more important than others? An example could be that you could have a very light character who is a boxer with dark dark boxing gloves because again, you want to highlight the most important areas of your characters. Explore with many value boxes!
- Remember to have those nice templates, nice organization,(again, you dont have to cram everything in one page, but if you do that's fine too just make it WORk! and finish your work!
Here are some examples from last year.
That's it for now. Good luck, if you have anymore questions, contact is dunesandd@yahoo.com. See you all next week!
